UTEP pulls ahead of NJIT to capture win
 EL PASO, Texas (August 30, 2008) - The University of Texas at El Paso junior Catherine Chavez recorded a double-double to lead her team to beat NJIT 25-18, 25-22 and 25-15 on Saturday afternoon at the Sun Bowl Volleyball Invitational.
Chavez registered 12 kills and 10 digs while teammate Amy Sanders added nine kills and 17 digs. Senior middle blocker Daidre Mendenhall finished with 10 kills and sophomore setter Patty Jarmoc concluded with 36 assists.
NJIT's Renata Pandolfo tallied six kills and 13 digs and setter Danielle Thompson recorded 17 assists.
