David Archuleta To Perform At Helen of Troy Halftime Show

archuleta_davidEL PASO, Texas (December 8, 2009) - American Idol's David Archuleta will perform at the Helen of Troy Halftime Show at the 76th Annual Brut Sun Bowl on Dec. 31 at Sun Bowl Stadium.

"Helen of Troy is excited to bring another outstanding talent like David Archuleta to perform at halftime of the Brut Sun Bowl," said Gerald J. Rubin, CEO and president of Helen of Troy. "David piqued America's interest during his run on American Idol and he definitely will be a fan favorite due to his extraordinary talents as a singer-songwriter."

Archuleta, who turns 19 years old on Dec. 28, was the runner-up on the seventh season of American Idol. In August of 2008, his self-titled album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200.

The Brut Sun Bowl, sponsored by El Paso's headquartered Helen of Troy, will feature Oklahoma of the Big 12 Conference against No. 19 Stanford of the Pac-10 Conference. The Helen of Troy Halftime Show will feature a performance by David Archuleta, as well as the two fine marching bands of the universities participating in the Brut Sun Bowl.

This marks the sixth consecutive year the Sun Bowl has featured the Helen of Troy Halftime Show. Previous performers have included Los Lonely Boys, Diamond Rio, Baby Bash, Rihanna and the Village People.

The Brut Sun Bowl is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 31 at noon at Sun Bowl Stadium. The game will be broadcast live nationally in high definition on CBS for the 42nd consecutive year. Tickets for the Brut Sun Bowl range in price from $15 to $60 and can be purchased by calling (915) 533-4416 or (800) 915-BOWL or go on-line at www.ticketmaster.com.

Since you chose to not air a majority of the half time show and failed to show ANY of David Archuleta, can you post it on here? Why do you advertise a half show and NOT air it? That simply does not make any sense to me. Also, you chose to not air David singing the National Anthem? That does not make sense to me as every other sport starts with that song and airs it. The Rose Bowl aired their half time show and the playing of the National Anthem.

So, since you did not air these songs, I am asking if you could post them on your site for fans to view it? Perhaps next year when a big name talent such as David Archuleta accepts your invitation to perform for your bowl game, that you take our suggestions and air it.

Thank you for your help.

I can't believe you advertised David would be performing and then you failed to show it. My family had been looking forward to seeing him perform.

Now you are showing the band!! Then you only show about one minute of them. My daughter will never watch another football game!! I could give a care about Stanford or Oaklahoma, we tuned in to see David... I'm switching over to the Navy & Missouri game. We're done!!

If you are going to have a great talent like Archuleta then you should make sure that CBS is going to show the half time show. I watch football, my daughter does not, she tuned in to see him not the football. You lost a fan because of this.
