EL PASO, Texas (December 30, 2009) - The Brut Sun Bowl and CBS will lift the local blackout of the El Paso area on KDBC-TV Channel 4 and broadcast the 76th annual Brut Sun Bowl live in HDTV on Thursday at noon (MT).

"We are excited that with the sellout that the Brut Sun Bowl and CBS have lifted the local blackout and allowed the rest of the region to see the Brut Sun Bowl," said Jimmy Rogers, Jr., chair emeritus and CBS liaison of the Sun Bowl Association. "This truly has become a special year for the Brut Sun Bowl."

The 2009 broadcast will mark the 42nd consecutive broadcast of the Sun Bowl on CBS. It is the longest running relationship between a bowl game and a television network. The affiliation between the Sun Bowl and CBS is second only to The Masters in terms for consecutive years being broadcast on one network.

Craig Bolerjack and Steve Beuerlein will be in the booth for CBS Sports with Samantha Ryan on the sideline for this year's game. The trio also called the 2006 and 2007 Brut Sun Bowls.

Having graduated from both OU (1958)
and Stanford (1968) and being a big
football fan, I think it is GREAT that
these 2 teams get a chance to compete.
I have no favorite but hope it is a competitive, clean game
GO SOONERS AND INDIANS,ERR CARDINALS!!

Hopefully Stanford caps a breakout season with a win that showcases why Toby Gerhart should have won the Heisman (and why he did win both the Doak Walker and the CBS Offensive Player of the Year awards!) Key could be the Stanford QB position: can Pritchard re-create the 2008 USC miracle or can Luck pull a Willis Reed?

Key may be the Stanford QB position: can Tavita Pritchard orchestrate a victory as he did versus USC last year? Or can Andrew Luck pull a Willis Reed?

I am a solid OU fan and hungry for a bowl win but after reading about Gerhart, his scary athletic talent, humble character and skillful ability to triangulate all that with academic excellence is just beyond belief. What a future. Win or lose, my hat is off to that young man. He runs like Steve Owens. He probably should have won the Heisman. The Sooners will have to roll up their sleeves on this one. Crimson and Cream in a rout.
