Price's Give 'Em Five Sun Bowl Punt, Pass & Kick

Set For Thursday At Sun Bowl Stadium

EL PASO, Texas (October 8, 2006) - Price's Give ‘Em Five Sun Bowl Punt, Pass & Kick will be held Thursday (Oct. 12) at Sun Bowl Stadium.

The event, which is hosted by the El Paso Parks and Recreation Department and the Sun Bowl Association, features over 250 competitors from the El Paso area annually. Each competitor has one attempt punting, passing, and kicking, which adds up to the combined distance in feet and inches.

Sectional winners who qualify will advance to the regional competition at Texas Stadium and will participate in an exhibition during a Cowboys game. Regional winners will advance to the national competition at a site to be determined.

In 2001, El Paso's Ryhan Madrid, who is now a punter at Northern Arizona University, won the Boys 14-15 national championship in Honolulu, Hawaii. Madrid won the sectional competition in El Paso, before winning the regional competition in Dallas.

The Oct. 12 competition is from 6-8 p.m. All players must arrive at Sun Bowl Stadium's north entrance by 5:30 p.m. with the participant's original birth certificate and waiver form. No parents will be allowed on the field.
