EL PASO, Texas (October 12, 2006) – Evan Carter took top honors for the third consecutive year at the 2006 Price’s Give ‘Em Five Sun Bowl Punt, Pass & Kick at Sun Bowl Stadium Thursday night.

Carter, a Cathedral High School student, recorded a combined total of 400 feet, five inches in the boys 14-15 division, eclipsing his 2005 total of 340 feet, one inch. Cherise Ivory was the overall winner for the girls, recording a combined total of 196 feet, five inches in the girls 12-13 division.

The winners in each age category are now eligible for the regional competition to take place in Irving at the Dallas Cowboys-New Orleans Saints game in December. The top five scores in the region advance to Irving. The regional winners will advance to the national championship to be held at the NFL Pro Bowl in Hawaii.

In 2001, Cathedral High’s Rhian Madrid won the national title in the Boys 14-15 division. Madrid is now the starting punter for Northern Arizona University, where he ranks 12th nationally in NCAA Division I-AA in punting.
