Sun Court Application Deadline Is June 15

EL PASO, Texas (May 30, 2007) – The Sun Bowl Association is accepting applications for the 2007 Sun Court until June 22 at 5 p.m. Applications can be downloaded here or interested applicants can stop by the Sun Bowl Association offices (4150 Pinnacle Street, Suite 100).

The Sun Princess competition is open to all females between the ages of 19-22, who have not been married or have not had any children. Applicants must have completed a minimum of one year of college.

Each applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student taking a minimum of 12 academic hours or full time in a graduate program with a cumulative grade point average of at least a 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Transcript must accompany application.  Sun Princesses may not hold any other title during the time they are members of the Sun Court.

Judging is based on communication and interpersonal skills, ability to demonstrate knowledge of El Paso, poise, appearance and personality.

The Sun Queen and Court are required to participate in all prescribed events for the Sun Bowl Association: Thanksgiving weekend and December 24-31.  Special appearances are also required at other times during the year.  The Sun Court is required to serve at least 20 volunteer hours for a non-profit organization. 

The deadline to submit an application is June 15 and all interviews will be held on July 14.  The number of applicants will determine the number of interviews necessary to select the 2007 Sun Princesses.  The applicant will be notified of the interview schedule after the application deadline.
