Don Haskins Sun Bowl Invitational
The Bank of the West Don Haskins Sun Bowl Invitational is the nation's oldest collegiate holiday basketball tournament. It is slated for December 28-29, 2011, at the Don Haskins Center. Teams are expected to be announced in the near future. This year marks the 50th edition of the tournament.
The tournament was renamed in 2009 to honor the legendary Don Haskins, who is a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. He coached at UTEP from 1961 to 1999, winning an incredible 719 games and making 14 postseason appearances, including winning the 1966 NCAA Championship. During his 38 years on the bench, the Bear dominated the Sun Bowl Basketball Tournament, so it is only fitting it was renamed in his honor.
Ticket information will be made available when teams are announced. If you should have any questions, feel free to call the Sun Bowl Association at (915) 533-4416.
